Once again the Double D’s wrapped up the year with a wine exchange holiday party. This year we tried the hot and spicy tastiness from New Mexico which is served up at Los Dos Molinos. Known for their super spicy yet tasty food, we sampled many of their dishes that Jen would describe as “3x the hurt” (once going in, once going down and once…)Jen’s spice-o-meter was also in great working order with the tell tale cough arriving 20 minutes after consuming her meal. Pat and I were very happy to have some life saving sour cream on hand while the pitchers of margaritas, although not the best I have ever had, did help to numb the tasty pain.
Before the meal, Ann (part time cruise ship director) broke out two Christmas themed trivia games that we played in pairs. Unfair yet hysterically she did this AFTER the margaritas had already been flowing. Kelly and Jay were the big winners with Sarah and Pat trailing right behind them. A fun time was had by all, except maybe Jay who was trapped into taking pictures but was a great sport about it…or maybe that was the margaritas?
The wine exchange was once again a fun challenge with everyone tasked to find a good wine or beer under $15. There were a few steals but none more than Jen who kept loosing her wine everytime she turned around. Although I distinctly remember at an earlier dinner that Jen swore she would only cook once a year, she teamed with Jenn and Don and they gave everyone some really tasty sweet treats to take home.
We certainly had a fun time to help celebrate the spirit of the season and we wish you all a Merry Christmas to your friends, familiy, and loved ones. It’s a blessing to be able to be surrounded by the people we cherish.

As a follow up, I talked with an “insider” who said that the house margaritas are not a good choice however the Brazilian margarita is made with hand squeezed juices and higher quality tequila and well worth the additional price. Lessons learned! 🙂
