September 17, 2011 – Brazilian Bull Steakhouse
Brazilian Bull Steakhouse Churrascaria 4909 E Chandler Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85048 480-783-6060 www.brazilianbullsteakhouse.com Organized by: Fred and Karna Swirbul This month the Ds visited a brazilian style steahouse to enjoy, as Ann so aptly decrribed it, “Meatfest 2011” and help Fred S. celebrate the big 5-0. We started at the salad/appetizer bar that included many delicious salads, seafood, and tasty sides that we could have easily enjoyed as the main attraction. Some of us tried the national drink of Brazil called Caipirinha. This refreshing drink is made with Cachaça (sugar cane rum), sugar or honey, and lime. Then came the meat… The carnivorous carnage included all sorts of different types of meat excellently prepared and had so much flavor that the Brazilian seasoning, Farofa, seemed like an unnecessary addition to the table. The beef, chicken, and pork barage included sausage, ham, tri-tip, garlic steak, beef and chicken kebobs, BBQ chicken, prime rib, pork tenderloin, and turkey wrapped in bacon (which was a big winner with Fred S!) In the true spirit of the Double Ds and trying new experiences, many of us tried the chicken hearts. Tasting quite similar to liver and with a less then desireable texture, chicken hearts may be one of those experiences that will live on in memory and not to be repeated. While the idea of a never ending meat train may make some carnivores cheer and salivate, one down side is the speed with which it arrives. If you want time to chew, taste, and swallow each round of tastiness, then make sure you mind the red/yellow/green traffic light cylinder on your table to keep the meat bearers at bay until you are reading to resume. If you need a break from protein, they also provide fried bananas, garlic rice, and beans to sample as well. All in all it was a fun evening with great company and yet another experience that we can add to our list.
